NORTH SYDNEY - NEW SOUTH WALES
The North Shore is one of the more affluent residential areas of Sydney. The area extends from Sydney Harbour foreshores to the northern suburbs and the ocean beaches.
The area incorporates a National Park and a number of State parks located along the estuaries, which extend through the suburbs. The area has a good transport system, a number of quality shopping centres and excellent schools.
The popularity of the area extends to the commercial property market and the North Shore is now recognised as Australia's premier location for high tech industries, with names such as Oracle, UUNET and Cisco Systems (which has established its South-East Asian headquarters in the area).
The main commercial centres are North Sydney, St Leonards/ Crows Nest, Chatswood and North Ryde, which together provide approximately 1.8 million square metres of office space.
The North Shore rail line, which runs from the city through the northern suburbs, is planned to be extended from Chatswood to Parramatta, and will further enhance the area and connect it to a burgeoning area in Sydney's west.
