Perth, 27 November 2012- A heritage-listed building in William Street, Perth has been given a new lease on life and is now fully occupied after the upper levels lay vacant for at least 30 years.
The owners Winston Holdings Pty Ltd and Ayoman Pty Ltd engaged prominent Perth heritage architects Palassis Architects to oversee the restoration of the run down upper level 88 William Street building.
CBRE Office Services Senior Director Andrew Denny oversaw the leasing campaign for the building which has been fully leased prior to practical completion.
Insurance brokers CKA Risk Solutions have leased the top level together with some signage rights on the building. Perth accountants Nexia leased level 3, a Perth mining company has leased level 2, with level 1 being leased to Solid Gold for a mixed office and retail use.
The building refurbishment commenced late 2010 and involved the restoration of the heritage listed building façade and a complete removal of all interiors, leaving just a bare concrete structure.
The refurbishment included additional exterior windows, and two new interior light wells were incorporated to provide attractive office space with additional natural light.
Other important tenant facilities such as showers, bicycle parking, lockers, onsite car bays and a goods lift were also incorporated.
A new building entrance was constructed fronting William Street and the building was given a new address.
The building has a total NLA of approximately 7,500 sqm including four upper levels. The typical floor size is 1,500 sqm. The building is located on the corner of the Hay Street Mall.
CBRE leasing agent Mr Denny said; “the refurbishment of this building has turned derelict unused space into a high value and vibrant end product. 88 William Street was vacant for at least 30 years after the previous occupier, the Economic Stores, closed.”
