Perth, 21 January 2015 – A site on Perth’s St
Georges Terrace has been leased to national café franchise Shingle Inn.
high tea specialist has leased space in 66 St Georges Terrace on an initial
five year term. The franchise has a long Australian heritage, after first
beginning operations in Brisbane in 1936, before more recently establishing a footprint
in Western Australia with four suburban stores.
Inn also operates across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and the
ACT with expansion plans for New Zealand in the works. CBRE’s Craig Olde negotiated
the lease on behalf of the St Georges Terrace landlord, as part of the owner’s
strategy to increase the street profile of the asset and provide an attractive
amenity at the office building entrance.
Olde said; “Shingle Inn is an icon of Brisbane’s city landscape and has
achieved great success throughout Australia, specialising in high tea service. St
Georges Terrace is an excellent site for the franchise; highly exposed to the
CBD white collar population, close to the perennially popular London Court
tourist arcade, and with a line of sight down Sherwood Court to Elizabeth Quay
and Swan River. As Elizabeth Quay
activates, the north/south corridor between Barrack Street and William Street
will further emerge as a bustling seven day hub of activity.”
is slowly but surely embracing diversity in the CBD’s cultural offerings,
social activities and retail outlets, as it begins to take on the traits of a true
capital city,” Mr Olde added.
to the Perth CBD deal, Shingle Inn has secured a site in Joondalup, and the
first of these two to open will mark the franchise reaching the significant
milestone of having 50 Australian stores.
