Sydney, 12 February 2015 –Senior CBRE property executive Sharon Yang has transferred from Shanghai to Sydney to further strengthen the firm’s International Investments team in Pacific.
CBRE Senior Managing Director, International Investments, Rick Butler, said the appointment of Ms Yang to an Associate Director role recognised the significant uplift in activity from Chinese buyers seeking to invest in the hotel, office and residential markets in both Australia and New Zealand.
Ms Yang worked for CBRE in Shanghai for the past three years and has a total of 10 years’ property market experience including prior roles with Knight Frank and Savills.
Educated at Fudan University in Shanghai, Ms Yang has a Bachelor of Economics qualification and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
Her appointment coincides with a significant uplift in Chinese investment in the Australian property market, as highlighted by recent transactions such as Dalian Wanda’s AU$415 million purchase of Gold Fields House in Sydney.
Last year, foreign buyers accounted for AU$6.2 billion in commercial transactions in Australia, or around 23 per cent of all commercial sales. Around two thirds of this investment came from the Asia Pacific, with a growing proportion emanating from China.
“The attraction is stronger economic growth, higher interest rates and higher yields,” Mr Butler said.
“Sharon is a highly qualified and successful dealer and her experience and extensive client contacts will add further strength to our market leading International Investments platform in Pacific as we continue to tap new sources of capital and facilitate offshore investment into the this market.”
