Sydney, 26 April 2015 – CBRE will be supporting the 2015 Tour de Legacy, a 1,500km cycling journey that aims to raise funds and awareness for Legacy.
Following the successful inaugural Tour de Legacy ride in 2013, a collection of 25 riders will be putting their mental and physical stamina to the test by riding from Canberra to Adelaide over 12 days, to coincide with the Centenary of Gallipoli.
CBRE will be providing financial sponsorship for the event which will go towards supporting Legacy, a charity providing for Australian families suffering financially and socially after the incapacitation or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence force service.
The riders will embark on the grueling journey from the Australian War Memorial on the 13th of April and will be arriving back in Adelaide at the Torrens Parade Ground on the 24th of April, the eve of Anzac Day.
Tour de Legacy has already received resounding support from many organisations, politicians and high profile individuals and will be opened with a send out from the Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove. The group may also be joined for the first portion of the ride by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
CBRE’S Andrew Bahr and Graham Lord will be participating in the Tour de Legacy ride and will be dedicating their journey to raising awareness of the great work Legacy conducts in the community for returned defence force personnel and their families.
Mr Bahr said the support of organisations such as CBRE was critical in making the ride a success.
“Tour de Legacy previously raised $60,000 for Legacy and with the backing of corporate sponsorships we are looking to beat that milestone in 2015 to assist with the vital services Legacy provides.”
“With 2015 being the Centenary of Gallipoli, the importance of assisting organisations that support Australian families impacted by war is incredibly prevalent and we hope the ride assists in raising awareness of the importance of the work Legacy does,” Mr Bahr said.
