Sydney, 30 April 2015 – Global property services firm CBRE has today officially launched a partnership with premier Australian theatre company Bell Shakespeare.
CBRE has become both a corporate member and is also working with Bell Shakespeare to produce and implement a ground breaking sustainability strategy, which will be a first for a touring theatre company in Australia.
CBRE’s Head of Sustainability, Pacific, Amanda Steele said Bell Shakespeare and CBRE had common goals and cultures and were excited about the mutual benefits inherent in their new partnership.
It represents an extension of the sustainability work that CBRE had long been undertaking in the property arena.
“The property sector has been actively pursuing better sustainability outcomes for some time and we believe that there is much that we can share with the Arts industry to assist them in their environmental management,” Ms Steele said.
“Although their assets are different and their stakeholders diverse, we are searching for the same outcomes – being environmental richness, economic efficiency and societal protection. Similarly, we can learn from Bell Shakespeare and their approach to stakeholder engagement and accessibility.”
Peter Evans, Bell Shakespeare Co-Artistic Director said, “Bell Shakespeare is proud to be working with our partner CBRE to lead the way on sustainability and seek ways to reduce our environmental footprint. Theatre has always been an outlet for society to confront and address the real challenges we face through the prism of entertainment. We look forward to building strategies that will enable us to sustainably reach audiences right across this vast country for many years to come.”
