Brisbane, 11 July 2013- Best Friends Pet Super Centre has moved into the anchor tenancy spot at The Zone Underwood following WOW Site & Sounds demise in 2012.
The lease was successfully concluded by Damian Crocetti, CBRE’s Retail Bulky Goods Associate Director; the first of many due to CBRE’s recent appointment as the management and leasing agents of The Zone.
Best Friends Pet Super Centre’s new showroom is over 1,500sqm of prime space, with excellent exposure to Kingston and Compton Roads and easy access to the M1 motorway. They join the likes of Officeworks, Fernwood Fitness, Amart Sports, Fernwood Fitness, Good Price Pharmacy and Subway.
The Zone Underwood, 17kms south-east of Brisbane, was completed in late 2005 and features 20 tenancies in four freestanding buildings, with car parking for 270 vehicles. Comprising a total building area of approximately 10,767sqm, the centre includes independent traders as well as national retail brands.
Located in the Logan Shire Council region, Underwood is an established mixed-use suburb forming part of a major commercial hub along with the adjoining suburbs of Springwood and Slacks Creek. In 2031, the population for Logan City Local Government Area (LGA) is projected to be 425,918 persons. This will account for 6.8% of Queensland’s total population at this time. The population for Logan City LGA is projected to increase by an average annual growth rate of 2.0% over the 25-year period between 2006 and 2031. In comparison, Queensland is projected to have an average annual growth rate of 1.7% over the same period.
This is the third bulky good’s centre management appointment for CBRE in QLD, with other managements including Windsor Homemaker Centre and The Zone Oxley. Between them they are home to retailers Freedom, JB Hi Fi Home, Beacon Lighting, Chemist Warehouse, Good Price Pharmacy, Curtain Wonderland and Trade Secret to name a few.
The CBRE QLD bulky goods team currently has over 47,000sqm of large format retail space being offered to the market for lease, in addition to a further 35,000sqm of proposed larger format space available for pre lease.
