Sydney, 15 October 2015 – More than 1,000 CBRE staff will embark on 10 kilometre walks in capital cities across the country next month as part of the firm’s flagship charity event, Walk For A Wish.
CBRE has set an ambitious fundraising target of $200,000 for its sixth annual Walk For A Wish, taking the event’s fundraising total to more than $1 million since its inception in 2009.
This year, the event will take place on Friday, October 16 and will involve staff walking concurrent 10 kilometre walks through major cities across Australia.
Commercial Real Estate is the supporting sponsor for the event, which will benefit three charities - Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia, beyondblue and UNICEF.
CBRE’s President & CEO, Australia & New Zealand, Ray Pittman commented:
“This important initiative unites our staff across the country, providing an opportunity to give back to the community,” Mr Pittman said.
“The record $259,000 we raised last year is testament to the philanthropic spirit that exists within our company and the power of what can be achieved when we unite together.”
He added: “Last year, we encouraged staff to provide feedback on the charities they would like to support. Starlight, beyondblue and UNICEF are close to many people’s hearts, which is evident by the outstanding result of last year’s event.
In Sydney, the event will take commence at Martin Place, travelling through Double Bay and Rushcutters Bay, before finishing at the North Bondi Surf Club.
About the charities:
The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families.
beyondblue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to increase awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia and to reduce the associated stigma.
