Melbourne, 21 October 2013- Melbourne café operator Little Bean Blue has leased a retail shop fronting one of the CBD’s most prominent laneways.
Located at 540 Little Collins Street, the 45sqm property fronts Gallagher Laneway, which is positioned directly behind 530 Collins Street.
CBRE’s Cam Taranto and Zelman Ainsworth negotiated the deal on behalf of a private vendor for an annual rental of $1,033 per square metre.
Mr Taranto said there was a high level of interest and tenant enquiry for these types of retail opportunities.
“Hole in the wall laneway shops such as this have become the centre of Melbourne’s popular café culture, however, they remain hard to come by in the CBD,” Mr Taranto said.
Mr Ainsworth said Melbourne’s CBD was dotted with several successful retail laneways such as Degrave Street, Equitable Place, Fulham Place and Hardware Lane.
“Because these laneways are very tightly held, quality café operators are always on the hunt to discover and activate new laneways, which is helping redefine and improve Australia’s cafe culture,” Mr Ainsworth said.
