Brisbane, 05 November 2014 – An organically certified landholding located in the sought after Fitzroy region has been listed for sale in a move tipped to ignite strong interest from buyers looking to gain a foothold in Australia’s premier beef region.
CBRE Agribusiness has been exclusively appointed to sell the properties entitled Oakleigh and Stoodleigh – a 13,650 hectare (approximately) landholding comprising six freehold titles located within close proximity to Rockhampton, the beef capital of Australia.
The properties, formerly part of the larger Glenprairie Aggregation, are situated approximately 19 kilometres north-west of the rural township of Marlborough and approximately 107 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton.
CBRE’s Geoff Warriner said the properties represented a unique opportunity to establish a strategic footprint in the red meat supply chain.
“Queensland has the highest value of organic production in the world and is recognised globally for its beef production,” Mr Warriner said.
“These properties have earned an envious reputation for high levels of performance in their own right, which is further supported by the region’s esteemed status globally.”
Mr Warriner said Oakleigh and Stoodleigh were well-established, well-managed, well-presented and versatile holdings that had a variety of current and future land use options.
“These properties hold significant scope for further development, including the continuation and expansion of the current breeding and fattening operation to capitalise on organic beef premiums,” Mr Warriner remarked.
Other opportunities include implementing a more intensive grazing operation; further development of current and potential cultivation land enabling enhanced flexibility of the cattle operation; and taking advantage of the properties’ close proximity to Rockhampton to establish a feedlot.
The properties benefit from extensive stands of native and improved pasture, the latter including Buffel, Green Panic and Rhodes Grasses along with various Secca and Stilo legumes.
Oakleigh and Stoodleigh are also supported by outstanding water security, with numerous dams, spring fed brooks, Wellington and Landsborough Creeks, backed up with numerous equipped solar pumps.
Mr Warriner said since their acquisition by the current owner in 2005, the properties have undergone a significant development program over the past nine years.
“After being aggressively developed for the better part of a decade, these properties are now established as one of the most highly regarded holdings in the district,” Mr Warriner explained.
Oakleigh and Stoodleigh will be offered for sale via public auction on Thursday, November 27 at 11am at the Rockhampton Leagues Club.
