Sydney, 06 November 2014 – CBRE has announced plans to launch a Residential Projects business in New Zealand to capitalise on the strong fundamentals in the country’s residential market.
Gavin Lloyd has been appointed to the newly created role as National Director, Residential Projects, New Zealand. He will relocate his family to New Zealand after a highly successful 17 year career in the firm’s Sydney office, during which time he has held a series of senior executive and managerial positions.
Mr Lloyd is currently Senior Director in charge of CBRE NSW Strata Projects Marketing, having founded that team in 2000. He was last year named the Real Estate Institute of NSW’s Marketer of the Year.
Brent McGregor, Senior Managing Director of CBRE NZ, said; “Gavin will be based in our Auckland office from Q1, 2015 and will commence a recruitment phase to build a Residential Projects team. This is a key part of our growth strategy for CBRE New Zealand and represents an exciting step change in the landscape of our business, with several key residential projects kicking off early next year.”
Tom Southern, CBRE President & CEO, Australia & New Zealand, said a decision had been taken that the timing was now right to make a concerted foray into the NZ residential market.
“The strength of the market, the increasing numbers of off-shore buyers and the ability we have to leverage off the strong Residential Projects platform we have developed on Australia’s eastern seaboard was the impetus for us to introduce this service offering for our NZ clients,” Mr Southern said.
“We are on track to sell in excess of 5,500 apartments in Australia this year, having expanded to become a clear market leader in the Residential Projects sector. We are confident of developing a similar platform in New Zealand and provide a real value add offering for our clients in this market.”
