Sydney, 06 November 2013-The sprawling Australian Pines & Products: No. 1 Plantation estate located on the NSW Mid North Coast is being offered for sale, offering a rare investment opportunity to acquire 2,400 hectares of land by the sea.
Located on Viney Creek Road East, Tea Gardens, the expansive property comprises eight freehold titles and a 1,310 hectare plantation of slash pine – the southernmost plantation of its kind in Australia.
CBRE’s Danny Thomas – in conjunction with Rick Wraight of Tea Gardens Real Estate - is marketing the property on behalf of the vendor. Australian Pines & Products: The No.1 Plantation is being offered for sale by Expressions of Interest closing November 1.
Mr Thomas said it was only the second time in more than 80 years the property had been listed for sale.
“This is truly a unique opportunity to secure an expansive estate with established agricultural, forestry and farming pursuits in one of Australia’s prime forestry growing regions,” Mr Thomas said.
“Due to the sheer size and secluded, yet easily accessible location of the land, it may be adapted for various purposes, whether they are commercial or lifestyle.”
The pine plantation, which was originally planted in 1931 by Australian Pines & Products, is still actively used, with opportunities for a further 900 hectare expansion in the future. The private family group who purchased the land in 1976 also implemented a comprehensive reforestation program, which is expected to yield revenue-producing softwood in the next few years.
Supporting the property’s pine forest is an established sawmill, CCA timber treatment plant and drying kiln.
Mr Thomas said the limitless water supply offered by the aquifer beneath the property and topography of the plantation would support a range of activities.
“The property, which is located less than five kilometres from the Pacific Highway and two kilometres from the ocean, is an ideal hub for agrarian or industrial activity ranging from livestock to bio-diesel crops,” Mr Thomas said.
“The pristine Myall River flows around and through the property, with several well-maintained residences lining the waterfront including the manager’s residence and a three bedroom house.”
The property is located approximately 50 kilometres north-east of Newcastle and five kilometres north of the Tea Gardens township.
