Sydney, 14 November 2013 – CBRE has set an ambitious fund raising target of $250,000 for its fourth annual Walk For A Wish charity event.
Mirvac is the principal sponsor of the event, which will take place this year on Friday, 22nd November. It will involve more than 1,000 staff from both CBRE and Mirvac undertaking concurrent 10 kilometre walks through major cities across Australia and New Zealand to raise funds and awareness for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia and Make-A-Wish New Zealand.
This year, the event has also expanded to Asia, with staff from CBRE’s Hong Kong, Japan, Shenzhen and Singapore staging their own Walk For A Wish to support separate charities in the region.
CBRE’s President & CEO, Australia & New Zealand, Tom Southern said; “The event provides staff with the opportunity to give back to the community within which they work. We have been overwhelmed by the level of support the event has received so far and we are especially grateful to Mirvac for signing on as our principal sponsor for a second year.”
Mirvac CEO and Managing Director Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz will be among the walkers in the Sydney leg of Walk For A Wish.
“Mirvac is proud to be principal sponsor for the Walk For A Wish event again this year. We admire the work both the Starlight and Make-A-Wish foundations do to brighten the lives of sick children and their families, and Walk For A Wish is a fantastic initiative to get behind,” Ms Llloyd-Hurwitz said.
In Sydney, the event will take the walkers from Martin Place through the Domain, past the NSW Art Gallery and Andrew Boy Charlton Pool to finish at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club in Rose Bay.
The event will culminate in a post walk live web stream to all participating locations and will include a video message from Tom Southern, who will be undertaking his own solo walk in New York through Central Park to support the event while overseas on business.
We’re absolutely thrilled with the support this initiative from CBRE provides our Wish granting program in Starlight’s 25th year. We will grant our 8,000th life changing wish before Christmas and it wouldn’t be without the generous support from our partners that this would be possible,” said Starlight’s CEO Louise Baxter.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families. Starlight is the only children’s charity with a permanent, physical presence in every major paediatric hospital in the country delivering a range of innovative programs to support the well-being and resilience of these seriously ill children and their families.
