Sydney, 8 December 2013-Prime space within South Sydney’s iconic The Woolstores Alexandria estate is being offered to the market, providing tenants a unique opportunity to lease part of Australian history.
Located at 6a Huntley Street, The Woolstores Alexandria is one of South Sydney’s largest commercial developments in recent times, comprising three heritage woolsheds converted into 10,000sqm of creative office accommodation. The tenancies will range from 310sqm in size, with rental rates set at $425psqm gross.
CBRE’s Olivia Skinner and Knight Frank’s Brooke Railton are marketing the office space on behalf of property developer Trumen Corp.
Ms Skinner said the boutique estate offered an attractive opportunity to secure space in Sydney’s last three woolsheds.
“The Woolstores Alexandria is truly a unique commercial development, offering high quality and creative office accommodation in one of Sydney’s fastest growing commercial hubs,” Ms Skinner said.
“We expect the development to attract tenants from a mix of creative industries such as fashion, media, design companies and the hugely growing e-commerce industry.
Located in the ever expanding South Sydney corridor, the heritage property is supported by a range of onsite and surrounding amenities including cafés, restaurants, landscaped park areas and childcare centres.
Ms Railton said the traditional workplace was evolving and tenants were increasingly looking for creative office spaces such as The Woolstores Alexandria that offered flexible working styles such as activity based working and hot desking.
"A large proportion of tenants are seeking a creative, inspirational working environment similar to what would traditionally be found in the city fringe,” Ms Railton said. At the height of World War two and amid hostilities at sea, around 250 expansive woolsheds were built in Alexandria to temporarily house valuable wool exports. While many of these have been used for various kinds of bulk storage over the years, all of the sheds – bar the three within the The Woolstores Alexandria estate – have fallen into disrepair.
Trumen Corp has previously developed a number of boutique estates in Alexandria and Marrickville.
