CBRE continues to show its commitment to encouraging a diverse and inclusive workforce, with the launch of a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) and Allies support group – Building Equality @CBRE ([email protected]).
CBRE is leading the way with [email protected], being the only major real estate services firm with an LGBTI support network that is affiliated with Pride in Diversity and recognised in the Australian Workplace Equality Index.
The group was officially launched on August 25, with a key note presentation from Ross Wetherbee, Senior Program Manager for Pride in Diversity. A social inclusion initiative of ACON, Pride in Diversity is Australia’s only national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of LGBTI workplace inclusion.
[email protected] is being launched with the strong support of CBRE’s senior leadership team, with Pacific President and CEO, Ray Pittman, and Pacific head of office leasing Andrew Tracey acting as the group’s executive sponsors.
Mr Pittman said [email protected]’s mission was to foster a culture at CBRE that celebrated equality and inclusion for everyone.
“The partnership between our Executive Committee and LGBTI community leaders further demonstrates our company's ongoing commitment to encouraging a diverse workplace in which merit and contributions supersede sexual orientation and gender identity,” Mr Pittman said.
“We also believe this will encourage opportunities for education, awareness, policy review and networking within the broader property industry.”
[email protected] has been established to complement CBRE’s existing diversity programs, including the CBRE Women’s Network, which earned a Top Ten ranking in the inaugural Global Diversity List in 2015, supported by the Economist. CBRE is also an active participant in the Property Male Champions of Change (PMCC) program that was initiated by the Property Council of Australia.
“I believe these diversity initiatives are essential for the future growth and success of our organisation, and in ensuring we are recognised as an employer of choice in the property industry,” Mr Pittman said.About CBRE Group, Inc.
