Sydney, 31 August 2014- CBRE has set an ambitious fund raising target of $200,000 for its fifth annual Walk For A Wish charity event.
This year the event will take place on Friday 12th September and will involve more than 1,000 staff walking 10 kilometres through major cities across Australia.
Australia’s No.1 commercial property listings site, realcommercial.com.au, is the supporting sponsor for the event, which will benefit three charities - Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia, beyondblue and UNICEF.
CBRE’s President & CEO, Australia & New Zealand, Tom Southern said; “The event provides staff with the opportunity to give back to the community within which they work. This year we encouraged staff to give feedback for the charities they would like see receive donations. Starlight, beyondblue and Unicef were close to many people’s hearts and this has made a favourable difference in the donation levels so far.”
In Sydney, the event will take the walkers from Martin Place through the Domain, past the NSW Art Gallery and Andrew Boy Charlton Pool to finish at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club in Rose Bay.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families.
beyondblue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to increase awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia and to reduce the associated stigma.
UNICEF works in over 190 countries to promote and protect the rights of children. In Australia, UNICEF advocates for the rights of all children to be realised and works to improve public and government support for child rights and international development.
