Sydney, 15 September 2014 – On Friday 12 September, CBRE held its fifth annual Walk For A Wish charity event. The event saw more than 1,000 staff walked 10 kilometers through major cities around Australia, supported by sponsors Australia’s No.1 commercial property listings site, realcommercial.com.au.
CBRE set an ambitious fundraising target of $200,000 for the event - which staff were able to surpass with a tremendous total of $240,000. The money raised is set to greatly benefit three charities – Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia, beyondblue and UNICEF.
Some of the other money raising initiatives held by CBRE included the brave act of Cameron Grier, Managing Director of Victoria, promising to shave his head when donations exceeded $10,000.
CBRE’s President & CEO, Australia & New Zealand, Tom Southern said; “I’m immensely proud of the dedicated fundraising effort by all staff. It’s wonderful to know that the charities, chosen by our employees, will receive funds that will make a difference in the lives of many in our community. I know that everyone greatly enjoyed the opportunity to give back, and we are excited at the prospect of bettering our fundraising efforts next year!”
The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families.
beyondblue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to increase awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia and to reduce the associated stigma.
UNICEF works in over 190 countries to promote and protect the rights of children. In Australia, UNICEF advocates for the rights of all children to be realised and works to improve public and government support for child rights and international development.
