A nearly-50ha vineyard in Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine-growing regions dating back to the 1860s, is on the market.
Ideally located within Clare Valley, approximately 110km north of Adelaide and 5km south east of Auburn, the property features 35ha currently growing Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
A further 12.4ha is suited to replanting at the site, which is just 400m from Koonowla Wines and near other wineries and cellar doors in the renowned wine-growing region.
Clare Valley is well known for producing quality Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, and receives approximately 590mm of rainfall per annum.
The vineyard’s location offers stunning views across gently undulating hills underpinned by red and brown loam soil over clay on rock.
It has historically produced approximately five tonnes/ha of Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon per annum.
On-site infrastructure includes five Frost Boss frost fans owned by a third party, with a lease arrangement to be negotiated by the incoming buyer, while a single un-equipped bore on site could facilitate further irrigation development.
CBRE Agribusiness’s Angus Bills and Phil Schell are managing the sale campaign, with Expressions of Interest invited by 4pm ACST on Thursday June 4.
“This is a rare opportunity to secure space in the historic Clare Valley wine region,” Mr Bills said.
“We are seeing increased levels of demand for vineyards, including from local, family businesses looking to scale-up their existing operations.
“There’s also strong interest from international investors, drawn by the low Australian Dollar and demand in the export wine market.”
