Drummond Golf tees up near The Gabba

Drummond Golf will open a new store in the fringe Brisbane CBD suburb of Woolloongabba.

Australia's largest golf retailer, with 50 stores nationwide, will bring its popular indoor golf simulation, Big Swing Golf, to Woolloongabba as part of its relocation within the suburb.

Drummond Golf has signed an eight-year lease for 18 Ipswich Road, a standalone, 1,180sqm retail showroom that offers excellent branding opportunities and ample onsite parking.

Formerly leased by Barbecues Galore, the site is several hundred metres from The Gabba on the busy Ipswich Road, near the corner of Stanley Street and 3km south of the Brisbane CBD.

CBRE’s showroom leasing specialists, Andrew Brimson and Sam Macgregor, secured Drummond Golf for the property, with Kyle Swain of LPC Cresa representing Barbeques Galore in the transaction.

“Drummond Golf will occupy an extremely prominent position in Woolloongabba,” Mr Brimson said.

“The showroom has enormous exposure to more than 50,000 cars daily on Ipswich Road, and this is paired with its proximity to major infrastructure such as The Gabba and the new Cross River Rail Woolloongabba Station that’s under construction.”

The Ipswich Road site is a relocation for Drummond Golf from 657 Stanley Street, a search that started in 2017.

“Quality showrooms in Woolloongabba are in low supply and tightly held,” Brimson added. 

“Securing premises that met the requirements for Drummond Golf and its Big Swing Golf concept in terms of floor space, internal clearance, onsite parking and exposure was challenging.

“18 Ipswich Road is ultimately an outstanding result; a fringe CBD location near businesses, offices, restaurants, bars and other amenities that are ideal traffic drivers for Big Swing Golf.”

Mr Swain said Barbeques Galore will now look for a new 500-600sqm tenancy in the fringe CBD to meet the retailer’s ‘express’ store design requirements. 

“Barbeques Galore exited the site as part of its portfolio optimisation strategy, which includes a new store design to create a much richer and more engaging customer experience, better showcasing the brand’s extensive product range and bringing to life what makes the brand special,” he said.
