A Richmond landmark is set to change hands as the former premises of Trentham Tucker cakes hits the market after operating as a commercial kitchen for over 40 years.
Located at 12 Clark Street, the two-level building regularly featured on television in the 1990s, with Good Morning Australia, Channel 10’s Midday Show and the Trisha Goddard show often broadcasting live from the kitchen.
CBRE Melbourne’s Julian White, Dylan Kilner and Guy Naselli have been appointed to market the property for sale on behalf of Ross Digby, owner of Trentham Tucker.
Mr Digby said; “We operated the Trentham Tucker cake business from 12 Clark Street for over 20 years and at peak production the building produced between 2,800 to 4,000 cakes per hour.”
In more recent years the 620sqm site has been occupied by prominent Asian restaurant operator David’s Hot Pots.
CBRE’s Mr White noted that the highly flexible building was likely to generate interest from owner occupiers with an intention to reposition the asset.
“With the Mountain Goat Brewery, Maker Fine Coffee and Veneziano Coffee at the end of the street, it’s no surprise that we are already receiving strong interest from breweries, coffee roasters, café and bars,” Mr White said.
Mr Kilner said the property has flexible development outcomes which could also spark interest from office developers.
“We have consistently seen owner occupiers outbid both residential and office developers on recent city-fringe campaigns, however given the property’s river and city views and the flexibility of the site, we also anticipate strong interest from local and international developers,” Mr Kilner added.
12 Clark Street will be sold by public onsite auction on August 15, 2019 at 12.30pm.
