The home of GWN7’s Bunbury studio is listed for sale, unlocking a premium ocean view development opportunity in the growing regional city.

GWN7 parent company, Prime Media Group, has appointed CBRE’s Michael Milne and Commercial Realty Bunbury’s Mick Caddy and John Saunders to market the properties at 13,15,17 and 19 Pickersgill Street – a combined site totaling 3,412sqm.

The site has been the home of regional television in WA for over 50 years, used for broadcasting the state’s only live and local TV news service – GWN7 News.

After 51 years at the current site, GWN7 is modernising its operations and moving to new premises in central Bunbury.

The R40 zoned hilltop site offers three street frontages to Pickersgill Street, Roberts Crescent and Simpson Lane.

CBRE’s Mr Milne said the sale represented a versatile opportunity to acquire a substantial presence in a prized location.

“With its ideal hilltop ocean view location and R40 zoning, this site is highly suited for a luxury residential apartment development that will provide panoramic views of the stunning coastline,” Mr Milne said.

“With a plot ratio of 0.6, there is also potential for a multiple dwelling project of around 25 to 30 apartments.”

Mick Caddy and John Saunders of Commercial Realty Bunbury said the potential for ongoing use of the significant existing buildings presented an added dimension.

Mr Caddy commented: “The current zoning provides discretion for aged care, child care, club premises, civic use, consulting rooms and place of worship, in addition to a variety of redevelopment options.

GWN7 (South Western Telecasters) commenced transmissions from the site in March 1967 as BTW3.
Through the early to mid -1980s the station expanded and rebranded to GWN and began satellite transmissions across regional WA from the Bunbury studio.

The property is being offered for sale via Expressions of Interest closing 8 March 2018.
