Prior to the pandemic, Victoria was the fastest growing state or territory in Australia with an annual growth rate of 2.5%. By 2026-27, Melbourne is expected to overtake Sydney as Australia’s largest city with a projected population of 6.2 million by June 2031. So what impact does this have on the city’s infrastructure pipeline?

 

With Victoria’s Big Build well-underway, infrastructure projects are set to boost the state’s economy and create a better, more connected city. Infrastructure Victoria has presented their 30-year strategy to the state government which will guide future investment and project selection, paying particular attention to the cities major population growth areas and employment precincts, mainly Monash, Sunshine, Parkville and La Trobe.
