CBRE partner with women’s empowerment program
July 7, 2022
Just 50% of Indigenous students in remote Queensland communities complete secondary schooling. Many don’t have access to secondary schooling locally and if they do complete year 12, just 17.1% achieve a tertiary entrance rank compared with 54.3% of non-Indigenous students.
They’re sobering statistics which highlight the need for change. And it’s one of the reasons why CBRE became a foundation partner for the new Sista’s Stand Strong women’s empowerment program at Cowboy’s House, alongside our travel provider CTM.
Cowboy’s House is managed by the charity arm of the National Rugby League (NRL) North Queensland Cowboys, and is a joint initiative between the NRL, North Queensland Cowboys, the Queensland Government and the Australian Government. It provides supported accommodation for up to 104 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from remote communities in North Queensland, enabling them to access secondary education opportunities in Townsville.
Through the Women’s Empowerment Program, the young women at Cowboy’s House have access to experts and guest speakers, workshops on topics such as self-awareness and emotional intelligence; success and happiness; stereotypes and body image - identifying personal and professional pathways for success in whatever they choose to do.
The three-year partnership aligns with CBRE’s Property with Purpose and Reconciliation Action Plan goals to advance cultural and gender equality.
