Australia Retail Figures Q4 2022

  • Retail sales grew 7.7% y-o-y and 1.4% m-o-m in November reaching another record level. This growth was in part driven by Black Friday sales. 
  • Consumer sentiment increased by 5.0% m-o-m to 84.3 in January 2022, The index has lifted 8.1% over the last two months, from a 78.0 in November which is expected to be the lowest point for consumer sentiment in this cycle.
  • Net face rents were stable in most sectors with regional and neighbourhood centres recording the largest q-o-q increase (0.6% and 0.5% respectively).
  • Yields softened across all asset classes except super prime CBD (stable). Yields are expected to see a small amount of further expansion in 2023 in line with the rising cost of debt.
  • Transaction volumes in Q4 2022 totalled $1.61b across 28 transactions, down 22.6% on Q4 2021.
