This stage of work follows the completed redevelopment of the centre’s food court in 2025 and will focus on the Coles mall and entry to deliver a refreshed centre entrance, new external seating area, and improvements to landscaping, lighting and signage.
Australian-based investment and funds management company Realside purchased the centre in 2024. CBRE are appointed to manage the centre.
Realside CEO Linda Rudd noted the revitalisation was designed to give the Maddington community an improved customer experience through more welcoming public spaces while also adding new retailers, food and beverage operators and services to the centre.
“Maddington Central has been part of this community for more than 45 years and we see enormous potential in its next chapter. Our investment is about much more than improving the look of the centre – we want to create a better experience for our customers, attract new retailers and services, and give the community a place they are genuinely proud to call their local centre,” Ms Rudd said.
“We believe strongly in the future of Maddington and see Maddington Central playing an important role in its continued growth. This revitalisation is an investment in the centre, but importantly it is also an investment in the broader Maddington community,” Ms Rudd added.
The upgrade, expected to be completed in early 2027, will introduce a refreshed centre entrance, three new restaurant operators, including a pizzeria, burger venue and café, as well as additional shade sails throughout the car park, interior upgrades and a range of enhancements designed to improve the overall customer experience.
The space will feature two new murals by award-winning Perth artist Sioux Tempestt, known for public art that draws on the histories, ecologies and communities of the places she works in.
The project will also support local employment, both through the construction phase and the additional businesses expected to be attracted to Maddington Central as the centre evolves.
CBRE Director, Retail Property Management, Amy Barber said, “We’re excited to see this next stage of Maddington Central's revitalisation come to life. The new dining precinct upgraded entrance and enhanced amenities will create a more welcoming and enjoyable experience for customers, while also providing retailers with the opportunity to benefit from increased visitation and longer dwell times. We’ve already seen strong interest from prospective tenants who are keen to be part of the centre's continued growth.
“Our priority throughout the project is to work closely with retailers and stakeholders to minimise disruption to day-to-day trading while delivering meaningful improvements that will support the centre’s long-term success. As Maddington continues to grow, we're confident these enhancements will further strengthen the centre's role as an important destination for the local community,” Ms Barber added.
