Morris Group divests reinvented Julatten Hotel to local investors

Local private investors have purchased the freehold going concern interest in the Julatten Hotel in North Queensland.

CBRE’s Taylor Morris and Danny Betros exclusively managed the sale via an on-market Expression of Interest campaign.

The Julatten Hotel was sold on behalf of the Morris Group. Executive Chairman Chris Morris said, “This was never about achieving the highest price. It was about ensuring the hotel remains open and continues to serve the community, which I know is incredibly important to the local residents. I am pleased that the purchasers are locals and, I look forward to enjoying a pleasant Sunday afternoon there soon.”

Positioned on a prominent two-hectare corner site fronting the Rex Highway in Julatten, approximately 25km from both Port Douglas and Mossman, the asset benefits from strong exposure to passing trade and serves as a convenient gateway to the surrounding hinterland and reef region.

The hotel comprises a public bar, outdoor bar, multiple dining areas, a patio and a substantial undercover deck, complemented by two self-contained, Balinese-inspired cabins. 

Recent capital works enhanced the property’s presentation and operational efficiency, providing an incoming owner with a turnkey opportunity, with further upside available through potential expansion of additional cabins, subject to planning approvals, and complementary tourism uses.

CBRE’s Danny Betros noted that the Julatten Hotel campaign generated strong buyer interest, underpinned by the quality of the asset and its location within one of Australia’s most desirable tourism regions. 

He added that, under the new ownership, the hotel was well positioned to continue serving as a key destination for both locals and travellers.
